DS Lite Rules The World
Yes, the black Nintendo DS Lite is uber-sexy, but I much prefer my white one.
For the past six months, I've been a firm believer that the DS is the best video game system on the market. Yes, better than the Xbox 360, and WORLDS better than the PSP. Why? Because the games are awesome, and it's portable. From Trauma Center to Brain Age to Animal Crossing to Phoenix Wright, the DS has a slew of games that are unique and incredibly addicting. Now they've got New Super Mario Brothers, which I am a slave to, and Mario Kart DS, a game that proves that I should never try to get online and play others in video games because I will always get cremated by little kids.
The PSP has a great-looking screen. It's a very pretty system. The games are not very good, though. The original DS (the Phat) had great games, but it was horribly designed. I owned one and loved it, but always felt like the red-headed stepchild when other guys had their PSP's out. It wasn't because they had good games, because they didn't. The only PSP game I've ever played that I thought was truly fun was Lumines, and that game could have worked on any system. I don't care that the PSP plays video, because I don't feel like paying $25 for a movie that I can only watch on a portable system. If I want to watch portable video, I'll just buy the DS Media Max.
Now that the DS Lite is out, I don't feel like a redheaded stepchild anymore. When I'm playing that thing, everyone wants to check it out. It's a beautiful little system — looks great, plays great, and has the best game lineup of any system on the market. And hey, it's only $130. Go get one.
