Curt Schilling has finally responded to The Great Sock Controversy of 2004/2007 by making a wager: anyone who wants to dispute that the blood on his sock from the 2004 ALCS wasn’t real can put up a million dollars. Schilling will do the same. If the blood isn’t real, Schilling will donate the money to a charity of the winner’s choosing, and if he loses, the other guy has to donate money to Schilling’s favorite charity.

Somehow, I just don’t see Gary Thorne taking Schilling up on his bet.

By the way, Schilling’s blog is great. You’ll never find another professional athlete speaking as candidly, or as often, as Schilling does on 38 Pitches. In a world where athletes only deliver soundbites to a media waiting to lap them up, Schilling has circumvented them entirely and created a place where he can freely talk without going through a media filter. I’d recommend subscribing immediately.
