2007 NFL Playoff Predictions: Round Three

Thus far I stand at 6 for 8, which isn’t a bad rate of success.

Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots: Betting against the Patriots this late in the postseason is insane, especially when they just finished making you look like a fool a day ago. For some reason, though, I feel like Peyton Manning is going to return to his early season form in this game, making it near impossible to beat the Colts. Teams struggled with the Colts until the very end of the season, and there’s a reason they were so unbeatable, and his name is Peyton Manning. I know Tom Brady’s a Hall of Famer, I know he’s 12-1 in the playoffs (including 6-1 on the road), and I know I should have learned my lesson by picking against them in the playoffs, but apparently I haven’t, as I’m going with Manning and the Colts to upset the Pats even though they’re the favorites. Winner: Colts

New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears: Oh, when the Saints go marching in. They’ve been my NFC Super Bowl pick since week four of the season, and I’m going to stick with that pick even though they’re playing the mighty Bears. Much has been written about the vaunted Bears defense (and with good reason), but the Saints are more of a cinderella team than I can ever remember in the NFL. Obviously, they’re the feel good pick, but if Drew Brees plays to the level of his regular season and Duece and Reggie put up the kind of numbers they have been, it will be really, really tough for the Bears to stop them the entire game. Winner: New Orleans Saints

Im with you on this. I believe and we all should believe. “When The Saints Go Marching In”

    You go boys

  2. TODD says:

I AGREE THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS HAVE THE BEST TOTAL OFFENSE IN THE NFL AND THE BEARS JUST HAVE NOT PLAYED A TEAM WITH THE TYPE OF WEAPONS THAT THE SAINTS HAVE GO SAINTS ALL THE WAY

  3. Sticking to my old name even though the Ravens are out and thy suck!!!
    I went 2-4 last week.
I dont think the Saint can beat the bears, everyone is talking so much shit about him but he played good enough for them to win yesterday. The INT he threw was not his fault, Muhammad could not hang on to the ball and the defender was rigt there to pick it off. And plus Devin Hester is just to fucking good!!!

I do think that the colts will beat the Pats, onew thing that the Patriots lacks in defense is speed, all of the Colts’ runs are to the outside. I think that Peyton is smart enough to pick up his game and he will have a good game. Plus Indy did beat NE during the regular season, but that was with a good peyton manning……o yeah but with a horrible defense.

  4. Saints are going all the way.

I’m from new orleans, and honestly, the mood down here is more electric than its ever been. The New Orleans Saints are too pumped from all the backing here (and around the country its starting to look like) to give in at all.
And with two very good teams like Chicago and New Orleans, its gonna come down to raw emotion and will power. The Bears just won’t be able to match the Saints’ intensity.

  5. Bob Shwarski says:

    Saints vs Bears:
It will be a close one until the coin toss. DA BEARS 72, Saints 3

    Colts vs Patriots:
The Colts have already made it through two rounds and thus shaken some of their post-season woes and taken some of the pressure off. Manning will have a breakthrough playoff performance. The Pats have run out of horseshoes to pull out of their ass.
    Colts 24, Patriots 17

  6. zachary rehkamp says:

the colts have an amazing offense and there defense at its peak freeney will harass tom brady putting up a total of 4 sacks the colts running game is decent addai getting 5 yards a carry. the new england defense is not hot enough to stop manning

    colts 35 new england 17

  7. Tammy says:

    Saints, Saints, Saints

The Saints will march all over the Bears and D. Mcallister will get over 125 yards rushing. Tha Bears wont know what hit them.

  8. SUPER FAN says:

I lived in New Orleans for 10 years & the SAINTS have had a great year…but let’s get real, the BEARS will win. Even though they’ve looked sloppy at times during the year, they’ve still managed to win 14 games this year…the sign of a good team is still getting the “W” when you don’t play well.
    Bears 28 – Saints 17

  9. “Ravens all the way”, its time we rule round 3. Okay, the Colts’ defensive backs and corners, are way too fast on turf. This will give them the edge on the pats. Their defense is also much improved and are going to stick it to dillon, brady and the gang. Manning has no more postseason pressure, and will put up good numbers. He knows the pats defense all too well.

The Saints will beat the bears, sorry. Rex Grossman is a boy playing among men, and cannot handle himself. Not even Urlacher can stop Deuce, and it will be Deuce all the way.

    Superbowl 41:
    Colts 28
    Saints 17

  10. TODD says:

i think the weather up there has some of those bears fan’s brains frozen !!!!!!!!!All that i’m gonna say is watch out Bears because THE SAINTS ARE COMING,THE SAINTS ARE COMING, and this ain’t the same ol saints .we’re bringin’ a new breed so look out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOOOOOOO SAINTS!!

  11. -bears have a better record
-saints play on turf, will not handle the weather
-grossman played almost mistake free last game, only got sacked once and the INT wasnt his fault

-The weather is the bottom line, not some kids named Douche and Bush, Urlacher will tear them apart.

    Bears 37
    Saints 21

  12. Saints struggled against the Eagles and they did not even have Mcnabb. Drew Brees is decent, their running game is decent, But i highly doubt theyll be able to stop Grossmans cannon. Jones will run all over those new orleans thugs!

    BEARS

  13. Frances says:

Folks have always said that if the Saints ever go to the Superbowl, hell will freeze over.

Temperature in hell 32 and falling.

  14. All I have to say is who is this moron saying Bears 72, Saints 3?!?!? No team has kept NO out the inzone all season. Bears D my ass, they let the seahawks (who had a horrible game) put up 24 points. This is the number 1 offense in the NFL jackass, you must be thinking of the team Aarron Brooks plays for now (Raiders) but there is a new Brees in town. Grant and Will Smith, as well as Fujita, are going to keep Grossman under pressure all day long. And we know what happens when he is under pressure, he FOLDS. Unlike Grossman, Brees will probably have his average 300 yrd passing game. And Urlacher isnt going to know what hit him when we bring the old one two (Deuce on the inside, Bush on the outside). Not to mention Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, and Hollywood Horn (if he is healthy).Read it and weap Bears fans; you’re as good as done. Saints 27 Bears 10

EVERYONE THAT IS A FAN OF AN ELIMINATED TEAM IS KNOW AN I FEEL BAD FOR THEM SAINTS FAN !!! HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE THE STORM WAS A TRADGETY AND THIS COUNTRY REPONDED AS WE ALWAYS DO WITH OPEN ARMS AND HEARTS AND THATS GREAT BUT SUNDAY IS ABOUT WHO WANTS IT MORE AND ALTHOUGH THE SAINTS ARE PLAYING GREAT THIS WILL TEST THERE METAL NO FANS CHEERING THEM ON NO BLEEDING HEARTS JUST 60,000 PLUS BEAR FANS CRAZED & HUNGRY REX MAY NOT BE AS STEADY AS WE WOULD LIKE BUT HE HAS PLAYED THROUGH AL THE BAD AND IS STILL STANDING MY GUESS IS HE WILL HAVE HIS BEST GAME EVER AND THE SAINTS RUNNING BACKS CANT SCORE FROM THE SIDELINES NO MATTER HOW FAST OR TOUGH THEY ARE REMEMBER THE GIANTS BILLS SUPERBOWL THE BILLS HAD ALL THE OFENSIVE WEPONS ALL THE GIANTS HAD WAS THE RINGS AT THE END OF THE GAME AND THE THING THAT MADE THE DIFERENCE COACHING EXPERIANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEARS 31 SAINTS 24

  16. Saints struggled against the Eagles and they did not even have Mcnabb. Drew Brees is decent, their running game is decent, But i highly doubt theyll be able to stop Grossmans cannon. Jones will run all over those new orleans thugs!

    BEARS

True, but the Bears struggled against the Seahawks with their 17th ranked offense. Wow, impressive.

  17. patRIOT says:

Okay, I am from New Hampshire so I will admit I love my Patriots. Seriously though people, there are a few things you all have overlooked. Has anyone seen Brady’s stats after he had a “bad game?” Has anyone seen what New England has done to the Colts in the past (when practically the whole team wasn’t injured)? Has anyone seen Peyton Manning the last two games, against two teams that aren’t nearly as intimidating (to him anyways)? Has anyone realized that the Colts’ awful defense only looks good right now because they were up against two awful offenses? Has anyone seen how good Stephen Gotowski (our new kicker) is? On that note, he is a rookie and already as good as most other team’s kickers. Plus, his can kick MUCH farther than Adam.
The Colts have a chance if they score first. The Pats are so good when they just run-to-pass and use simple plays. When they get behind, they sometimes abandon their game plan and try long-developing trick plays. I get very frustrated when I see this, and I’m sure fans of our opponents love it.
If the Pats stick to their game plan, Peyton will get sacked a few times, but that won’t be as big as the hurries. Hurries lead to interceptions, and he always seems to throw a few against the Pats. New England’s offensive line to me is what makes them sooo good. Give Brady enough time and he’ll find someone who is open, or he’ll do one of his funny little 4-yard runs if everyone’s covered. Oh yeah, and what about New England’s defense? I hope I don’t have to explain that one, so I won’t. You’ll see on Sunday.
    PATRIOTS 30 COLTS 20

  18. patslover says:

I agree that the colts defense has improved during the playoffs….For once, But I still think they cant handle the Patriots. Peyton Is going to choke, just like every other one of his playoff games against the Pats. P.Manning has never made it to a superbowl, and In my opinion, he never will.
    Pats-27 Colts-24
Gostkowski with the game winning field goal, just to proove the rookie can fill Vinatieri’s shoes.

  19. Mvp prdictor:
    Wats up???
I think that if Rex could limit his mistakes and lose the game for them, the Bears have an outstading chance to win…the bears defense did not play good at all against the seahawaks they are not the same as in the regukar season but i think that the saints are to unexperienced, brees, bush, colston, sean payton..etc. Dont forget that they are playing in the cold, not in a dome, in soldier staduim.
The only thing i have to say to the pats is that they will regret that they gave up the best kicker in the nfl ever.
    27-24 GW FG by Vinatieri.
    SB:
    Colts-Bears
    Colts cruise 24-13

  20. PackersFan says:

I’m a packers fan (duh?) but I still laughed when they beat the Bears on 12/31 cuz the Packs’ ain’t that good (but i stand by them).
I say the Saints beat the Bears sagging arse by a point, Grossman throws a couple of picks and the bears D does a good job (but they aren’t as good as the Saints O, i mean, come on, how could they be?)
Hmmm…? should I pick Brady or Manning in the Playoffs? Brady wins hands down, sure Peyton is amazing in the regular season but he’s basically his li’l brother in the postseason. Patriots pull through by a thouchdown, both quarterbacks going nearly faultless (but Manning throwin’ a pick ) and the Pats’ D beating the colts’.
Saints/Bears-Sains 10-9(last second TD by Deuce)
Patriots/Colts-21-14(devestating Manning int. and good Pat D)

    S.B.
Patriots/Saints-Saints-24-23(an amazingly close game with NO beating the seasoned Pats with sheer willpower)

    Have a nice weekend people.

  21. Sure, I’m biased, I’m a Pats fan. Though I do believe in mystique (of Belichick/Brady) I believe more in the knowledge and brain of Belichick and the coolness of Brady. Though I knew they could, I don’t believe I expected the result in Indy. The drive and desire is there…

  22. I could see it going in any direction. Many awesome story lines no matter how it goes!
Bears vs. Patriots– Re-match of the 1986 Superbowl, And this time, the Bears would still win, just not by as large of a margin.

Colts vs. Saints– Peyton vs. Archie’s old team? Or—- Two teams who have not won much of anything in the last 35 years!

Saints vs. Patriots— Tom Brady, Corey Dillon, Laurence Maroney and the rest of the Belichik clan lay a monster egg in the absence of their awful secondary and pass the Cinderella magic over to the Saints who, by the way, ARE FOR REAL!

Bears vs. Colts– Full of intrigue! If not for the score. Any storyline would take a backseat to the Colts HUGE margin of victory! Colts bait Grossman into 4 or 5 interception NIGHTMARE, while Chicago “D” tries to hold on. D- backs cant hold coverage for the amount of time that Manning will be afforded to throw the ball to Marvin and Reggie. Colts-49 Bears-6.

  23. EllentheEaglesfan says:

Pats/Colts – As much as I want the Colts to win for Peyton Manning’s sake, I will not pick against the Patriots (whom I can’t stand). Brady is too good when it matters. I say Pats 28, Colts 24 Saints/Bears – Saints are the feel good story here and it would be great for their city to even go to the Super Bowl, but they just barely got by the Eagles at home. I think the Bears will pull this one out if their offense is fairly efficient and their defense steps up. Homefield will also help big time here. Bears 24, Saints 17

  24. PackersFan says:

During halftime of the Bears-Saints game I will change my prediction for the game by bumping both the Bears’ and the Saints’ scores up one touchdown, making the game a Saints victory, 17-16.

  25. SUPER FAN says:

CONGRATS to the SAINTS on having an amazing season. I guess I was just a little off on my prediction earlier this week (Bears 28 – Saints 17)…BEARS 39 – SAINTS 14

  26. patRIOT says:

That pats-colts “game” was such bullcrap. It wasn’t even as bad as last year vs the Broncos in the playoffs, but I wonder how much it took the colts to pay off the refs. For example: the colts throw a long pass into the endzone. pats db had his back to the ball, jumped, the ball hits his back without him even slightly touching the reciever, and they throw the flag. sure, ur supposed to be looking for the ball, so that was pass interference. fine. but then the pats are driving and tom throws a pass into the endzone. not only did the colts db have his back to the ball, but he was obviously pushing (not hand-slapping or touching) the reciever. i was like “YES!” when i saw the play, but that was only followed by a “WTF!” when there was no flag. two same situation plays, one obviously a penalty and the other one, well, maybe a penalty, and the only one called was the iffy one against the pats. which is ok if u make the same call against the other team, which they didnt.
oh, and what about peyton’s game-winning touchdown “drive.” the key play in that one was a roughing the passer call which gave them a free 15 yds and a first down. that’s fine if a patriot had roughed the passer, but not when you throw the flag just because someone is in the general area. was peyton manning on the ground after this play? NO. Well, was he pushed and at least lost his balance? NO. did anyone even touch him? not any harder than when a player pats someone’s back after a good play. lightly, that is. i didnt know there was a “touching the passer” penalty. of course this was called when it looked like the colts were going to be held to a field goal. how convienent for them.
Yes, it’s true all the pats had to do was come out in the second half and not screw it up. yes, the colts made some great halftime adjustments. yes, the colts did dominate 1/2 of the game enough to come back and win. i know the patriots had plenty of missed opportunities. but if the refs were fair in their penalty calling, if the only “neutral and unbiased” aspect of the game had been “neutral and unbiased,” the patriots would have won.
I know the game plans change and who knows what would have really happened throughout the game if all of the officiating was fair, but here is how those bad calls directly affected the final score, this is what it would have been:
    Patriots 38 Colts 27
Different ballgame when it’s fair, isn’t it?

  27. patRIOT:
quit riding Billicheck and Brady’s dick. The COLTS are a better team, they came to play, the pats didnt. Tom Brady=most overrated qb in the NFL. Peyton Manning=most critisized qb in the NFL. refs make bad calls, its part of the game. a good team comes out and overcomes that. Brady….not so much. what am i saying? the pats suck….GO COLTS BABY!!!!

    COLTS-28
    BEARS-10

  28. TOM BRADY BITCHES says:
